your gifts were given you;
neither did you build your wealth,
nor happiness accrue.
Forsooth, you might as well be proud
of the color of your hair,
or brag about your height out loud
as if you put each inch in there!
No, each fiber in your skin
and every place you own,
plus each talent you’re given,
is by God’s grace alone!
