Each rooted tree is recognized
by the fruit that it provides –
indeed, men do not gather grapes
from a tree with spikes that scrapes,
nor do they pluck flavors of figs
from bristle-blanketed, thick twigs.
From good treasure in his heart,
good a good man will impart,
but the evil produce evil things
from an evil heart debouching sins,
for what flows into the heart will leak,
and the overspill is what will speak.
