John’s baptism

Let’s speak of John’s baptism –
do you know how it began?
Was its origin of heaven,
or was it from man?

If it came straight from heaven,
why did you not believe?
But if immersion came from men,
the people will be peeved.

The priests could not say the second –
they feared majority!
So the teacher answered not their question
of authority.
