Whenever you decide to fast,
resemble not that hypocrite brass
who disfigure all their faces crass
so their diet is broadcast.
Truly, I’ll tell you, alas,
their reward they have amassed.
But when you go lacking repast,
anoint your head and clean your cast,
so your fast is masked in contrast.
For your Father sees your ask
and will reward you in the last.
