A king who will not reprimand
or stand for what is right
would rather see his people damned
than get into a fight.
Men who play deaf to the prophets
are like dogs led back to vomit –
for they favor the familiar
over gold and over silver.
It’s not often that excitement
be concomitant with chastisement;
far more likely that frustration
follow in that situation.
Yet the smartest hit person
produces harvest in the end,
for those who find this lesson in
the midst of moral discipline
and don’t resist letting it in,
become peaceful participants.
Obey the Lord and you’ll live long,
every day stay far from wrong,
pray and worship Him in song,
His ways will make you ever strong!
Teachers tell you, “Stay in school,”
but they don’t mean forever;
apparently there is a rule
that you can’t be more clever.
If you want to do something that’s never been done, write.
It is easy to be frenzied
when others find success,
but another’s never envied
when he’s in distress.
Discipline seems full of pain
and notoriety,
but yields a harvest for those trained
of peace and piety.
Jesus told those who invited Him,
“Whene’er you throw a bash,
make no request of your friend
or he who’s flush with cash –
lest they invite you at the end
and you are paid back,
but to the poor and lame extend
an invite that will ask
them to join you and attend,
so one day at the last,
my friends, you shall be recompensed,
for doing as I asked.”
Be a cephalophore and quit while you’re ahead.
