The more easily you get your wealth,
the less good it will do;
far better to accept your dealth
and fight for what is true.
If your enemy’s oppressed,
you should give him any rest,
ensure his injuries are dressed,
and treat him the very best,
lest you are the one who’s next
to appear at his address.
Don’t fine the innocent a cent,
or send a spitz after the scent
of a sint sachem who’s not sinned!
(For that matter, restrain the Doberman
from going after noble men.
Keep him in his oval pen,
and don’t let him roam again!)
O, how often I have missed
what is of most import
when I wield my wits instead
of being a good sport.
Pray for those who torture and abuse,
who raze without remorse –
that they may try their brother’s shoes
and change their wicked course.
In all things, it’s understood,
nothing can truly hurt us;
God works all things for the good
of those called to His purpose.
The best leaders plant many a seed
and labor to pull every weed,
so when their own time is complete,
another man can come to eat.
He who wields a wit requests
a wallop on his rear,
but he who seals his lips attests
he’s got his act in gear.
He who prefers protection, pride,
pleasure, power, pelf –
often forgets to provide
for men beside himself.
The accusers suing for tort
saw the law lord had soiled his shorts;
about to unravel,
he lowered his gavel,
and shouted, “Ordure in the court!”
